Pogrammes by Research.
Graduate programmes by research are designed for both masters and and doctoral level. The programmes emphasise mostly on research as the major requirement for attaining the degrees. There is no specific number of credits required for graduation however students are recommended to enroll some courses to strengthen their knowledge in the relevant fields. They are also required to participate in academic discussions and seminar presentations. At the end of the programme, they have to submit a thesis to the Thesis Examination Committee as a significant contribution of the knowledge mastered in the chosen field.Research offered at UMT falls in seven main fields as listed below :-

Programmes by Coursework
Graduate programmes under coursework structure is only offered once a year which is on first semester of every session. Students who enroll in this structure are required to fulfill thirty six (36) to thirty seven (37) credits comprising coursework and dissertation. Students are expected to submit a dissertation (equivalent to 4–6 credits). In some programmes, a comprehensive examination is required. The minimum requirement is 36 credits. This structure is only offered at the Master’s level.
  1. Master of Business Administration (MBA)
The programme requires attending lectures / coursework of 48 credits. This includes the core modules of 36 credits and students can pursue up to three areas of concentration by completing an additional 12 credits of elective coursework.

a. Master of Business Administration (Strategic Management)

This programme is designed for student who wish to extend their knowledge and skills in Strategic Management. This programme also prepares them to be an expert in business and management.

b. Master of Business Administration (Finance)

The programme is developed for student who want to expand their skills and knowledge in Finance. The programme offers subject such as Islamic Finance, Islamic Economics and Islamic Banking.

c. Master of Business Administration (Marketing)

The programme is developed for student who want to expand their skills and knowledge in Marketing. The programme offers subject such as Tourism Marketing, International Marketing and Consumer Behaviour.

1. Bachelor’s degree in related field with CGPA 3.00 and above; or
2. Bachelor’s degree in related field with CGPA 2.75 and who has at least three
(3) years’ relevant work experience; or
3. Recognized professional qualification; or
4. Other qualifications recognized by the UMT.

  2. Master of Science (Aquaculture)
This programme is handled by Institute of Tropical Aquaculture, is designed for candidates who wish to extend their knowledge and skills in aquaculture. This programme also prepares them to be an expert in aquaculture industry.

This programme is handled by Economics Department (Faculty of Management and Economics), is designed for science and social science degree holders. The programme offers a knowledge in environment, management, economics and accounting areas which are concurrently on sciences field.
